Successful treatment of Otodectes cynotis infestation in domestic African pygmy hedgehogs (Atelerix albiventris): A case report

Six domestic African pygmy hedgehogs (Atelerix albiventris) were treated for Otodectes cynotis infestation. Symptoms included skin lesions, itching, and slight lethargy. The given a bath with shampoo containing miconazole chlorhexidine, selamectin solution was applied to the in between spines. Skin scraping negative mite infestation after 15 days of treatment, inflammation, swelling decreased significantly. By day 30 clear any visible lesions on body. These findings demonstrate effectiveness Miconazole chlorhexidine treatment hedgehogs.
